Recently the Kerala State Film Awards were presented in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Alencier Ley Lopez won the best actor award in which he said, “Don’t stir up our emotions by giving the female idol award. I will not be mesmerized by a female idol. Give an award with a sculpture of a strong man,” he said.
The speech was controversial. Kerala Film Women’s Organization condemned her.
When a female journalist asked Alencier Ley López for his opinion on the issue, he was allegedly abusive.
Subsequently, the Kerala Women’s Commission itself came forward and registered a case against Alencier Le Lopez and instructed the Superintendent of Police to file a report on the incident.
