Tomato price is Rs.10 less in Chennai

In Chennai’s Koyambedu market, the price of tomatoes has reduced by Rs.10 per kilogram. In recent months in Tamil Nadu, the price of tomatoes gradually decreased day by day, similar to the trend seen with the price of gold. This has led wholesalers to reduce the quantities of tomatoes they purchase, aiming to lower the quantities they sell. Sales have been recorded mainly within the range of Rs.150 to Rs.200 per kilogram. In response to this, the Tamil Nadu government has initiated the sale of tomatoes in ration shops. “In this scenario, today at the Koyambedu vegetable market, the price of tomatoes has decreased by Rs.10, and they are being sold at Rs.90 per kilogram. Compared to yesterday’s price of Rs.100, today they are being sold at Rs.90. Due to the increase in tomato supply, traders have announced a reduction in prices. Modern tomatoes are priced at Rs.100 per kilogram, onions at Rs.22, potatoes at Rs.33, baby onions at Rs.80, carrot at Rs.60, beans at Rs.50, beetroot at Rs.40, brinjal at Rs.30, and elephant foot yam at Rs.4 each, being sold.
